One the first day of Christmas

From *

On the FIRST day of Christmas my true love gave to me, a night out for the Ascent Holiday Party!

We had so much fun. We went to Rodizio Grill and then they gave out all kinds of prizes. Everyone wins something, this year we got a box of chocolates. BOO! But it was a great night out and a nice way to kick of the 12 days of Christmas!

Corens Nativity Scene

Coren had a friend over and they were being so cute. They decided that they wanted to make a nativity sceen. First they wrapped the house to make it look cool, but I guess that didn't work out for them.

In the end they had created their very own nativity scene that was so dang cute. It is currently one of our favorite decorations.

Kenna's Party!

Kenna had a little party with some of her friends from school. We decided to do something fun and take them all rock climbing. I had Emily come and help me becuase I knew that there was no way I could do it on my own. Lucy came and hung out with Steve and the boys!

We all loaded up and went downtown. Once we got there we discovered that Emily and I would have to harness them up and support them the entire time. We had to have a quick lesson so that we knew what we were doing and then the girls went crazy!

Some of the girls were really nervous, while others, Kenna included, just went for it. Before we knew it they were hanging and posing and even trying to turn upside down! Emily and I joined in that fun too!

Later we came back and had some cake that I made from scratch (that's right, scratch!) and I have to say it was out of this world!

The night ended with wild WILD wild girls running all over and a couple even spending the night. WOW, it was a blast!

My gift to you!

Don't say I never gave you any useful information becuase this is the bomb:
From *

Want to know how to get your shower doors looking like new? WD40. Seriously! It smells a little bad for a minute but it is so worth it. Just spray WD40 all over your glass, let it sit for about ten minutes, and then take a rag and literally wipe the hard water stains away. Rinse, and then take a dry cloth and buff it. The best part is that it protects your glass once it is on there. We just squeegee ours after each shower and it stays looking nice for a long, long time.
I also used WD40 on my car. I got a mark (some paint) on it from a shopping cart or other car. I just sprayed on some WD40 and the paint was gone, leaving my paint looking great.
Your Welcome!

Got crabs?

I don't know how it happens but we always end up with all these random pets, even though I have a no pet rule. I am a sucker. Carson has a lizard, and Kenna has a fish. Coren started to beg me for a fish so I caved in. Well on the way there he started trying to sell me on a crab. I told him we have a strict "no crabs" rule in our house. ha ha ha

Well I gave in and he came home with a crab and a fish. How does this happen? He is just so cute, I can't say no!

Sadly the fish only made it 12 hours, we found it dead this morning (the bowl was too small, I told him that but he never believes me), but the crab is still alive and kickin!

I love crab, maybe it will get big enough to eat. Yum!

Christmas Crafts

The kids wanted to make some Christmas Decorations for Grandpa and Grandma becuase they were going to hang out with them while Steve and I went out with some friends.

The both came up with their own ideas and made them almost all by themselves. They were so crafty and had the best ideas. I was totally impressed. Grandpa and Grandma loved them have them for decorations in their house. Good job boys!

Young Woman

I am old or is she? Holy crap! Kenna is now in Young Womens. I am so excited for her. She is going to love it. It is such a fun thing and she has awesome leader who just happen to be my good friends. They came over and brought her a poster to welcome her and took her out for ice-cream. She was extatic! I can't wait for her to get to meet all of the girls and go to girls camp!

Sometimes as a parent you are just kind of forced to go with the flow. Speaking of that, here is the story of Black Pete and Santa.
The boys friend Josh came over to play. He was SO excited because Black Pete and Santa were coming to his house that night. My kids got very curious. As I ease dropped I heard him tell them that each year Black Pete and Santa come to his house. They leave their shoes outside of their room, and if they have been good, they get candy in their shoes. If they are bad, Black Pete comes into their room and whips them and takes them away.

I laughed, knowing that my kids would not be up for a whipping and went about my business. Seconds later the boys came running, totally excited that Black Pete and Santa were coming. I was in shock.

The kids spent tons of time building a Lego thing for the duo and making him a note which said that they had been really good and even made the two a Lego thing. They told them not to take the Lego's but to leave them some candy and to make sure Josh got some too.

Freaked out about the whipping, they put their shoes on the fireplace, locked their bedroom doors, and slept on the couch downstairs. It was so funny!

Well, sure enough Black Pete and Santa came and the boys were left unwhipped and safe and sound.

I was curious about this whole tradition and looked it up. Turns out it is very controversial because of the racism associated with it. Black Pete is actually Santa's slave. This is a tradition from the Netherlands, which is actually where my ancestors are from, so I think I was gypped as a kid. I guess my parents were trying not to be racist.

It was fun. It will be interesting to see if they remember it for next year.

Birthday Girl

On the kids birthdays I check them out of school and take them out for a fun lunch. This year for Kennas birthday we went to The Braza Grill. It is a Brazilian Buffet kind of where you get stuffed full of tons of yummy meat. We ate lots and had a blast.

Carsons world fair

Carson second grade had a world fair and put on a really fun performance. Carsons class sang twinkle twinkle little star in Chinese and did a cute little dance. He was so proud, it was fun!

Cold Backpacking anyone?

Steve took the boys on their annual backpacking trip. Novemember seemed like a cold time to do it, but they had a blast. They even caught a lizard and brought it home. It is now Carson's pet. Yippee! The boys had so many stories to tell, but no one mentioned being cold. What tough boys I have! I am so glad that Steve is teaching the kids to be tough so that I don't have to. I don't want wimpy kids but I am a wimp (when it comes to cold and camping). It looks like they had a great time. Next year they are going when it is warm cause Dad is kinda a wimp!

Rotten pumpkin

I was going to post a picture of the nasty rotten pumpkin and my porch by decided against it. Instead I put a picture of me becuase it kinda looks the same.

Makenna just got mad at me and made me get rid of it. The rotten pumpkin that is. I have been watching it rot and wither for weeks now but just left it there. So not me!

I think I have kind of rotted right along with it. A few weeks back it started to sag a little. Next I saw some wrinkles, and recently it has started to ooze some foul rotten pumpkin goo onto my porch. Just today that goo made its way down some stairs. I guess that was the final straw for my daughter, and it should have been for me too.

See that last little while I have not been myself. I have been cooped up, just sitting around like the pumpkin on my porch. There has been so much going on and so much that I have needed to do but instead I have just been perched, like a pumpkin on the porch.

********

I started with my leg. The doctors orders to quit moving. That is when it began. I started to sag a little (literally) and with that sagging I got a little nasty. Not so nasty that anyone could see it, but just nasty enough for me to see that I should probably be moved. I was a little testy!

Then came the added stress of Thanksgiving, trying to make it all perfect, and right about then I started to wrinkle a little. No one seemed to notice the sag or the wrinkle other than me, and some even thought I had pulled it off perfectly. I was not happy with my Green Bean Casserole. It threw me off. I prefer perfection and they didn't cut it.

Speaking of being thrown off, right then in the midst of the madness my hip got thrown out and it pinched a nerve. It hurt like a beast! Really I have never seen such pain. I couldn't sleep or sit. I needed the Chiropractor, but of course he wasn't open. Right then I started to look kind of nasty. It was noticeable.

Somewhere between unable to move because of my leg, but unable to sit, and for sure unable to sleep I started to ooze. A few rough days of oozing.

Finally my hip is fixed, I sleep great at night, and I sit. I sit a lot. Sitting is not good for me. I prefer to run. I like to be moving and busy and crazy. I don't like to have time to ooze and get nasty. I like to take my frustrations out on the road and not on people and for sure not on my public blog.

The pumpkin is in the garbage. If it wasn't so cold I would probably get in there with it and we cold rot together. But I hate the cold... and the stinky garbage. And more than anything I hate that I am writing this and that I have time to.

So there you have it. I have officially become a weird, whiny, rotten pumpkin that just sits and has time to complain and show the world how nasty I am getting.

If you see me running before the 8 weeks are up this is why. It was either run or have my family put me in the trash.

I can say this. When I do finally move it is going to be awesome, and the only thing rotten will be the fact that I am totally out of shape.
