After school.

Mother Makenna.  One of my favorite things in this whole world.
Each day after school Carson waits paitently in his classroom for Kenna to pick him up.  Makenna takes it very seriously, and gets to him as quickly as possible.  She knows the teacher, she knows the names of his friends and other kids in his class, she knows his routine.  She walks with him and they talk about his day.  What he did in school and of course everything that happened at recess.  As they walk and talk, she holds her arm firmly around him.  She holds him close to her, protecting him, and making sure that she gets him to the car in one piece and as happy as possible.
Carson is still young enough to think that this behavior is cool, and I am so glad.  They are the cutest and I love seeing them come around the corner every day.  Someday Carson will realize how lucky he was to have an older sister who watched out for him, and someday Makenna will make a really good mother.
